A Charming Courtyard for Conversation by Peter Fennell
Peter Fennell was born in Broken Hill, June 1949. As a child, Peter loved to draw and paint, but on leaving school he first worked in a bank. At the age of 21 he decided to travel and spent some time in Mount Isa, working for the mining companies. Here, the harsh outback life impressed him and so inspired him to follow his love of painting as a career.
He then travelled in Europe for a year, painted a little, but spent much of his time exploring and studying in the great galleries. On his return to Australia he opened his own gallery in Sydney. After a year he moved on to begin painting full time professionally.
“Romantic Impressionism” is Peter’s description of his approach to his painting. His unique style softens the Australian bush he loves so well. A self-taught artist, he has approached the Australian landscape with refreshing individuality. Public acceptance of Peter’s work has been immediate and far reaching in Australia; collectors from all states have acquired his paintings. Also private collectors in the USA, England, Saudi Arabia, Germany and New Zealand. With several successful one-man exhibitions behind him, his work is now represented in Queensland, Victoria, Jersey CI and NSW.
